"The meeting was to give Mr President an update on our operations within and outside the country especially our involvement in the ECOWAS Standby Force that is being inducted into Senegal so that the mandate of Gambia's President-Elect is respected and sworn in".

Osinbajo's return is occasioned by the departure of President Muhammadu Buhari who left the country on Thursday, January 19 for the United Kingdom just shortly after his letter of vacation to the National Assembly was read during opening of plenary.

The Vice President not only spoke to a packed worldwide Business Interaction Group of investors focused exclusively on Nigeria, he addressed a panel of Building Africa.

"What's wrong with going on vacation?"

Osinbajo said the President Buhari-led government is committed to investing more in infrastructure by ensuring that 30 per cent of the budget goes into capital expenditure.

"While away the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, will perform the functions of the Office of the President", the spokesman, Femi Adesina, said in his statement.

Speaking at the world forum, the vice President said an active engagement with, and encouraging the private sector, he said, is also of a great deal, referring to the example of the 650,000bpd refinery project of the Dangote Group.

"You know that God did work of creation for six days and on the seventh day he rested". While away, he will do routine medical check-ups.
