Bruce Springsteen tribute band pull out of Trump inauguration gig

Bruce Springsteen tribute band pulls out of Trump inauguration ball Springsteen Tribute Band Won't Play NJ Inaugural Gala Out of Respect for Bruce
Zaira Scannapieco | 16 Gennaio, 2017, 22:04 reports that the B STREET BAND, a Bruce Springsteen tribute band that was scheduled to perform at the upcoming Garden State Presidential Inaugural Gala, will no longer appear at the event. Springsteen has been a vocal opponent of President-elect Donald Trump and critics believed the popular cover band was going against Springsteen's ideals by playing the inaugural event. "The B Street Band would not exist without the talents of Bruce and our E Street brothers".

The President-elect's troubles in booking acts to perform at either his inauguration ceremony on January 20 or the many balls being held in his honour before and after the main event have been well documented, with a slew of invited performers either being personally turned down by Trump or refusing to play altogether.

Most of the blowback against the band has been somewhat overblown, considering one of its members told Rolling Stone that the group signed the contract to sign this year's gala in 2013, one month after playing the gala for Obama's second inauguration.

We are most grateful to these rock legends and look forward to many more years of emulating and performing the Forever Music, of Bruce Springsteen.

The band originally committed to perform at the event back in 2013, years before the victor of the presidential election was determined.

In a statement, the band said that they were dropping from the performance "based exclusively on the respect and gratitude we have for Bruce and the E Street Band" but, in fact, they have been the subject of literally hundreds of news stories over the last week from such sources as the New York Times and the Los Angeles Time along with criticism on social media from casual fans to the likes of New Jersey senator Ray Lesniak who said "Shame on the #BStreetBand playing at #Trump's inaugural". C'mon, we're a bar band.

The B Street Band - who have been "rock'n Bruce fans since 1980" as "the original Springsteen tribute band" - are regular live performers in the U.S., and have twice before played at the New Jersey State Society of Washington, DC's ball, which is held every four years to welcome in the new President.

The B Street Band received flak after it was announced that the cover band would play the non-partisan gala (not Trump's actual inauguration, as had been erroneously reported by some outlets). I don't have any dealings with Trump at all!
