Brazilian football great Ronaldinho is ready to come out of retirement to play for Chapecoense in an effort to help rebuild the club after the devastating plane crash in Colombia on Monday night killed the majority of their squad, coaching team and club staff.
Reports from the continent, suggest that the two players will offer their services for free with the 38-year-old Riquelme explaining that; "My brother and my friends have asked me to do it so let's see what happens".
Nineteen of the players passed away in the crash, along with crew members and journalists, and the football world has been rallying together in a bid to help ever since.
Supporters have called for Ronaldinho to play for Chapecoense on social media as the club begins the rebuilding process after the tragic air crash in Colombia.
"It is a very hard time", he said. Going forward forward, if there is contact, we can talk.
There are also speculations that former Argentine player Juan Roman Riquelme will follow Ronaldinho's suit.
"He (Ronaldinho) fits the profile and could be the right guy".
Assis admitted that Ronaldinho fits the required profile for the club since he retired previous year. But the moment is to help families and it would be (wrong) to create expectations for now.
Chapecoense are set to play their final league match on December 11 but their opponent's Atletico Mineiro will most likely forfeit the match.
