Microsoft (MSFT) is bringing an update to its Windows 10 software that will allow users to create in a 3-D version of its Paint graphics application. But with the launch of new feature-rich devices, Microsoft is hoping to regain its market position and win over creative professionals who have long preferred products from rival Apple.
"The combination of Dial, pen and touch creates a more immersive and tactile way for people to create in digital environments", Microsoft said. According to Microsoft, the gamut is 63 percent more than 4K. It runs on two AAA batteries, which will reportedly last a year and connects to the Surface Studio via Bluetooth Low Energy technology.
The device also supports Surface Dial, a new cylinder-shaped input device created to allow designers to change settings mid-stroke. Surface Studio includes a hinge that lets you tinker with the display angle and supports touchscreen and stylus capabilities - similar to what's already standard for other Surface products.
With the software update, gamers using Windows 10 computers or the Xbox console will be able to livestream their play directly without using a third-party platform such as Amazon.com Inc.'s Twitch. That means the majority of users will not see any changes. You can import into a ton of apps like Paint 3D and PowerPoint. It is important to keep in mind that the unveiling of the PC is not the only agenda of this event. The new 3D Paint can now add photographic elements or animation to the design.
OEMs such as Dell, Asus, Lenovo and HP are expected to develop VR headsets that take advantage of the new 3D options on Windows computers.
Chief Executive Satya Nadella said at a NY event to launch the new products.that "Microsoft was building Windows for each of us (and enabling) people to experience computing in new ways". The company revealed a range of WindowsVR headsets alongside its upcoming Windows 10update known as "Redstone". It forecast division sales of as much as $11.6 billion for this quarter, well below year-earlier results of $12.7 billion.
But the company is gaining momentum in its fast-growing mobile and cloud business something investors have given chief executive Satya Nadella credit for.
