Warner Bros. and IMAX extend partnership to include more DC Comics movies

Pictures have extended their 13-year partnership with a deal to release up to 12 of the Hollywood studio's upcoming tentpoles.

Warner Bros. since 2003 has turned to Imax's super-sized screens to help release its tentpole pictures. Notable titles include 2017's Kong: Skull Island and its Godzilla sequel; Blade Runner 2049 (domestic only with Warner Bros.); Tomb Raider; Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One; The LEGO Batman Movie; Minecraft; the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel; as well as the previously announced Justice League, Wonder Woman, and additional DC titles. The Christopher Nolan-directed WWII drama "Dunkirk", which is using IMAX cameras to shoot several large action sequences, is also part of the pact.

The companies previously announced that Justice League, Wonder Woman, and other titles featuring DC Comics characters will show on Imax screens. Top filmmakers and studios are utilizing IMAX theatres to connect with audiences in extraordinary ways, and, as such, IMAX's network is among the most important and successful theatrical distribution platforms for major event films around the globe. All these will be digitally re-mastered into the Imax format and released in Imax theatres worldwide.
