Wisconsin posted 170 rushing yards in the first half against the Buckeyes, who entered the game ranked ninth nationally, allowing 97.8 yards per game. This will be the fifth game in which the Rebels are facing a ranked team.
The Badgers got the SEC treatment in the polls - meaning, despite two close losses to elite Big Ten teams, they remained in the Top 10 on Sunday.
In Week 5, Wisconsin lost to MI 14-7 at the Big House.
The Badgers struggled greatly in the third quarter to move their ball down the field.
"They were coming off a bye week and they had some plays schemed up, they had a plethora of plays coming out the first half", junior Raekwon McMillan said when asked about the chunk plays. He also was able to make several big plays to put pressure on Barrett and his offense. The Buckeyes stayed No. 2 after an overtime victory against Wisconsin, which fell two spots to 10th.
Chryst and his coaching staff saw that the Buckeyes' defense could be beaten on the edge and unleashed Jazz Peavy on the jet sweep.
"It just sucks when there are a lot of plays left out there that you could have made", outside linebacker T.J. Watt said.
He shared this one with Northwestern running back Justin Jackson, who ran for 188 yards as the Wildcats beat Michigan State. The next three on UW's schedule may be the three toughest remaining - a matchup with No. 8 Nebraska on October 29 at Camp Randall Stadium sandwiched between road games at Iowa and Northwestern.
Tight end Troy Fumagalli was another key receiver against Ohio State. While he had several missed throws including the interception by OSU's Gareon Conley, Hornibrook led several drives down the field to tie up the game and bring it into overtime.
But Hornibrook did make enough plays to keep the chains moving. He also led the Buckeyes with 92 rushing yards. Jerome Baker tackled Corey Clement for no gain on third down.
While the Badgers would need plenty of help to sneak into the playoffs with two losses, their top goal has always been winning the Big Ten West division and giving themselves an opportunity to win the conference in Indianapolis.
Ohio State overtime hero J.T. Barrett has been named co-Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week.
"I allowed myself to be patience", Clement said of his improvement this week. "Nothing on the outside will impact our goals. We knew when they come, you've got to take advantage of them". But now it's time to get back to campus and back to work for the MI coach, and while IL might not present that great of a challenge, his team is under the microscope every week and he'll be tasked with keeping it focused.
We've reached the midpoint of the college football season and the Big Ten is making its case as the premier conference, with two national championship contenders in MI and Ohio State atop ESPN's power rankings.
The Wolverines swapped places with now-No.
Hornibrook's performance improved against Ohio State though it was no almost up to the same standards the redshirt freshman set against Michigan State in early October.
The outcome led to the Volunteers falling from ninth to 18th. Auburn 22. North Carolina 23. The Tigers prevailed 24-17 in overtime and almost lost in regulation but North Carolina State's Kyle Bambard missed a 33-yard field goal on the final play of regulation. No. 5 Washington, No. 6 Texas A&M and No. 7 Louisville held their spots. Nebraska moved up to No. 8 - its highest ranking since early in the 2011 season. Baylor 6-0 1021 11 10.
