Less than 360,000km away from Earth's centre, the full moon will appear larger than normal.

Weather permitting, highly active auroral displays will be visible low on the horizon in a line that connects Seattle, Des Moines, Chicago, Cleveland, Boston and Halifax.

Whether you call the big, orange moon on display this weekend a supermoon or a hunter's moon, everyone can agree the the fact that this full moon is bright! According to EarthSky, the Hunter's Moon rises quicker though, just 30 minutes after the time it rose the day before, for a few days around the actual full moon. A full moon on the horizon appears red because of how we see it through the thickness of Earth's atmosphere.

As well as being closer and brighter, the moon will look orange and red around this time.

The moon's red tinge is a sign that Nibiru is near, according to conspiracy t.

"The orange colour of a moon near the horizon is a true physical effect". The full moon will be bright and lovely Saturday night across the Piedmont.

That's because of the well documented moon illusion which tricks our brains into thinking the moon bigger because it's closer to the horizon.

Blood moon over Salford Is it really brighter than other moons?

October's full moon will also take place when the moon is at its closest point to Earth in its 27-day lunar orbit (this point is known as perigee). The event will be experienced by the northern hemisphere due to Autumn Equinox.

"If you have a telescope collecting dust in a closet, this is a ideal time to take it out and have a look at the moon", he said.

For the United Kingdom, the moon turns full at 5:23am BST on October 16, at which time the oon shines in their western sky.

But if you miss it, don't fret.

The Hunter's Moon is on its way, and it coincides with a supermoon this year.

Sunday's moon is also a supermoon because it's closer to earth than usual.
