National Football League power rankings, Week 6: Patriots rise, Eagles fall

Tom Brady has returned. After a tough shutout loss to a division rival in the Buffalo Bills, the best quarterback in the National Football League returned from his questionable Deflategate suspension, and Brady did not miss a beat. The New England offense looked versatile and imposing, and the Patriots overpowered the Cleveland Browns.

The Browns had all the respect in the world for Tom Brady and the Patriots before and after Sunday's game. Yes, the Browns now have a lot to figure out before they can find success again, but there should not be much to take away from the Patriots overall performance on Sunday.

Brady was back, and he was getting a feel for his offense. Team trainers attended to him before he popped up, jogged to the sideline and was soon hauling in three TDs. "I'm going to work through the week and practice and see how it goes". Brady completed 10 of his first 12 passes in the first quarter for 137 yards and a touchdown. After being dealing with a hamstring injury for most of the preseason and hauling in just one catch in his first two games of the season, Gronk had five receptions for 109 yards against Cleveland.

Then there was Martellus Bennett. Hogan flashed his impressive speed throughout the game, and finished the day with four receptions, and led the team with 114 receiving yards.

Gronkowski invented a word Sunday when speaking about the energy that Brady brings to the team: amp-ness. Although Garoppolo has done a relatively good job in holding down the Patriots' fourth, the team has been in need of a reliable quarterback to lead the squad this season. On Sunday, they delivered.

The Browns, on the other hand, probably weren't planning to use Kessler at quarterback this year. They also may have lost another quarterback or two.

Colts 29, Bears 23: Andrew Luck's 35-yard touchdown pass to T.Y. Hilton with 3:43 remaining proved to be the game-winner in the Indianapolis Colts' come-from-behind 29-23 victory against the Chicago Bears.

There is still much to prove down the road, as their pass rush needs to improve, but Sunday's performance was a step in the right direction. Bennett, once again, continued to show that he is one of the better tight ends in the NFL.

The Browns tied the score on their second possession on an 11-yard touchdown pass from Kessler to Andrew Hawkins to the left side of the end zone. "Hard to say. I feel pretty good".

What this shows, regardless of if it was against an 0-5 team in the Browns, is that having to guard these two as a defense will be extremely hard. He's healthy, showing no signs of any rust - or slippage at 39 - and New England's offensive arsenal has been replenished with more targets.

"It's super great", tight end Rob Gronkowski said after the 33-13 triumph.

Finally, the whole Delategate issue is in the rear-view mirror.

Brady, now in his 17th season, has expressed a desire to play into his 40s and burnish his legacy - which may or may not have been tarnished by his nasty dispute with the NFL.
