Derek Carr: Derek Carr throws for 299 yards and three TDs

The Oakland Raiders play host the Atlanta Falcons for a Week 2 game of the 2016 National Football League regular season on Sunday afternoon. He also completed 26 out of 34 passes for 396 yards.

Despite being favored against their rivals, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Falcons looked lost in their Week 1 game and came out with a loss. (To disbelievers: It's on tape.) Ryan used nine different receivers, with Julio Jones and Jacob Tamme each have five catches and a TD. Success in that area makes the Raiders a more risky team in terms of play-action passes. In the second quarter, the Falcons finally got it going on offense, as Matt Ryan hit Julio Jones for a touchdown that was bookended by a pair of field goals. Oakland maintains a slight 7-6 edge in the series entering this meeting. Ryan had a solid performance, but the lack of a running game and a creaky defense that gave up four touchdown passes to Winston doomed Atlanta.

The Raiders have a nice three-back set, with Murray, DeAndre Washington, and Jalen Richard.

ABOUT THE RAIDERS (1-0): Oakland will need to shore up its defense after allowing 507 total yards - 419 passing - against New Orleans and failing to record a sack despite having a line that includes Khalil Mack, who finished second in the league a year ago with 15. Oakland has allowed 1,035 yards through two games, the worst mark ever. The problem is he hasn't been consistent throughout his career. The Falcons cleaned it up in the second half, but finished with seven penalties for 73 yards.

"I don't think there were any physical mismatches out there", Del Rio said. It's worth noting that, before the game, Raider Nation guitarist Craig Chaquico performed one of the more "interesting" national anthem renditions I've ever seen.

A lot of questions abound and we'll have some answers soon enough. Oakland was picked apart in the opener by Willie Snead, Brandin Cooks and the Saints, allowing Drew Brees to throw for 423 yards. If the Falcons hope to have a chance in Oakland, this unit will need to improve their play and force Derek Carr into some mistakes.

Del Rio would not comment on whether he will take a more active role in play calling from here on out, saying simply that "those types of things or discussions are not really part of this wrap-up right now today".

"I can have my hands on him and I pushed him out", Trufant said.

"I believe the Raiders are a playoff caliber team". Coach did what he had to do. Among other things, he claims that the team is "not on the same page". Like Jones, Mohamed Sanu isn't listed on the Falcons' injury report after suffering an ankle injury last Sunday. It was the difference against Tampa Bay last week, and it it looked like it would be again Sunday. The Falcons will not to shut down the Raiders rushing attack in order to get into some favorable third-down situations. And, just like last week, the coach was rewarded with a Derek Carr-to-Michael Crabtree strike. Atlanta is a better defensive team than New Orleans, by far.
