GROWIN' UP: The Steelers often rode with three wide receivers, one tight end and one running back in the formation against the Redskins. We were sagging in the first half a little bit.

"I may be ignorant, but it seemed to me that we just weren't in a situation in the game where we had a lot of run attempts", Kirk Cousins said. "They sold out on the run, throw it up top to AB and he makes a play". Breeland's game has grown the last two years, and he said just a few days ago that his ability to read route concepts quicker has enabled him to get a better break on the ball.

"But I think we have to balance that with being smart and that's what we were trying to do".

"Each and every week, y'all need to ask about this until we change something", Jean Francois said.

Cousins also addressed his performance from a bottom-line standpoint.

We should know more when Tomlin holds his Tuesday presser but that's pretty good news so far. But they were plenty good enough.

"I have total, 100% confidence in Coach Joe Barry [the Redskins defensive coordinator]", he said. "We have to come out with a win". And they didn't even have all of their players available last night.

The Redskins are concerned enough about their suspect defensive line that they are expected to sign 13-year National Football League veteran Cullen Jenkins.

Luckily for Washington, they play in a division without a clear leader - Dallas showed its problems in Week 1, the Giants appear to be a prototypical 8-8 team, and the Eagles are starting a rookie quarterback. Cousins responded by completing seven passes in a row on what should have been a comeback scoring drive. Instead, he saw a defense which was holding firm in the red-zone, and an offense which was bound to break through at some point during the game. According to a tweet from Pro Football Focus analyst Sam Monson on Monday, Brown caught eight of the nine passes thrown his way while Breeland was in coverage for 113 yards and two scores. But they didn't attack and they let the visitors off the hook.

Tomlin said receiver Markus Wheaton (shoulder), fullback Roosevelt Nix (back) and offensive lineman Cody Wallace (knee) have a "significant" chance of playing against the Bengals.

Jenkins was with the team last month at the end of training camp and had a sack and a tackle for loss in the final preseason game against Tampa Bay on August 31. The Steelers defensive backs are young and may be good someday.

Tight Ends: Jesse James, or as people on Twitter called him last night, "Heath Jr.", had a fairly consistent night for the Steelers, finishing with five receptions for 31 yards. His receiving long for the night was 14 yards, on a 2nd-and-22 pass from Big Ben out of the shotgun; a play which negated a significant loss after a Roethlisberger fumble a play earlier. Redskins fans should hope that Cousins will watch Big Ben and learn what a franchise quarterback is supposed to look like.
