The Argentine striker has until 6pm on Wednesday 31 August to reply but faces a three-game suspension if he is found guilty, meaning he would miss the coming derby against Manchester United on 10 September.

Pep Guardiola is known throughout the game as a demanding taskmaster and even City's talisman is expected to meeting his exacting standards, as Sergio revealed in the build-up to Sunday's clash against West Ham.

I didn't know what it was about, but I know he couldn't talk (in the dressing room).

Bilic, quoted on West Ham's official website, said: "I have praise for the team for the second-half performance".

"Hopefully nothing happens. If it happens, we accept and adapt", Guardiola said.

"If we lose him, we lose him. we will still have 11".

Wilfried Bony and Kelechi Iheanacho are the only pure strikers who could replace Agüero, though it is easy to imagine Pep Guardiola creatively reshuffling his pack and playing a nominal midfielder up top at Old Trafford.

Guardiola was more forthcoming in discussing Sterling, who has enjoyed an outstanding start to the campaign and appears to have been revitalised by Guardiola's arrival in the summer. However, I'm not thinking about competing with him. Nothing. I have tried to do the best for all the players, not just Raz.

"We gave them far too much time and space on the ball and they scored two goals". "Of course we can do better", he said. He is so dynamic.

"If I am able to do as well as the previous season then I will keep growing as a player". We showed our quality and you need to show keeping the ball and wanting to hurt them. I don't think anyone wants to see a player like Sergio Aguero banned.

Slaven Bilic admitted in his post match press conference he hadn't seen it - but the TV cameras did.
